Who tenses her shoulders too often
Who makes Kraft mac-n-cheese for dinner when her husband works late
And, when catching her reflection in the kitchen window,
Notices her slumped posture and eye creases where sleep deprivation hides

Who sleeps with a baby at my breast
And another far down the carpeted hall

me, two years ago
Lady Godiva
on a horse
galloping naked
through the towns
screaming for
Revolution
insisting on
Revolution
swallowing
and spitting
Revolution
for surgeons knives
to turn into
healing hands
and supine spines
to rise unto
powerful knees
for numb wombs
to invoke
martial law
and doctor’s words
to become
incantation
for this divine
Revolution
because those tubes
and needles
in my spine
and hand
and bladder
flowed only
with the elixir
of tears
and fear
and lingering
endorphins
